Hughes and his players were left perplexed when they disallowed a goal from Charlie Austin at 1-0 in the second half with referee Simon Hooper incorrectly believing the ball had gone in off Maya Yoshida, who was in an offside position.However, replays showed the ball did not touch the Japan international and the points were ultimately shared.However, the former Manchester United player believes the Saints were hard done by and deserved the goal.Clearly, it was a goal that should have stood, Hughes said after the game. I talked to the officials just as the game was continuing and they were trying to make out Maya Yoshida was in an offside position and its gone off him. Well not from where I was standing.So clearly, theyve asked the assistant referee whether or not he was in an offside position Im assuming and yeah, he was slightly.It must have been the referee that has given the decision that Maya has touched the ball on the way in.Which is ridiculous really because he was about a foot and a half away from it.
