Alexis Sanchez scored against Arsenal as Manchester United progressed to the FA Cup fifth round after winning 3-1 at the Emirates.Interim managerOle Gunnar Solskjaer makes it eight wins from eight as United dominated after taking a two-goal lead.
5Arsenal
Petr Cech – 5
Another shaky performance from the veteran goalkeeper. Suspect kicking put his defence under pressure and was beaten too easily by Sanchez who rounded him to score, before Lingard passed the second beyond his reach. He did well to save from Pogba but his parry fell straight to Martial.Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6
A decent performance from the full-back, who kept Sanchez relatively quiet for the opening half-hour and did similarly well against substitute Martial.
5Sokratis – 6
Started in typically solid fashion, but after contesting an aerial duel with Jesse Lingard, the Greek defender landed awkwardly on his ankle and despite his best attempts to play on, he was eventually forced to come off.Laurent Koscielny – 6
Left to marshal the defence alone once Sokratis was forced off and United scored twice in quick succession. A stray boot from Lukaku meant he too had to be taken off as a result.Sead Kolasinac – 6
Tried his best to keep United’s relentless attacks to a minimum, but there was little he could do.Lucas Torreira – 6
Broke up play well, but faded as United took control in midfield. Not his usual influential self.Granit Xhaka – 5
Largely anonymous for much of the match and provided no attacking threat. A wayward shot over the bar summed his evening.Alex Iwobi – 6
Bright early on and showed off his speed as he looked to keep Ashley Young on the back foot. Pass to Ramsey started the move which led to the Arsenal goal.Aaron Ramsey – 6
Brilliant run and clever footwork as he tricked his way into the box before firing in a low ball across the box to leave Aubameyang with a simple finish just before the break. Nearly equalised with a powerful header that was well saved by Romero.Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang – 6
Scored Arsenal’s goal to give them hope heading into the break. His footwork and clever runs, meant he was once again Arsenal’s main threat.
5Alexandre Lacazette – 5.5
Failed to repeat his performance from the win over Chelsea, A quiet 45 minutes and not much changed for the forward after the break, aside from a stinging shot which was pushed away by Romero.SUB – Shkodran Mustafi – 5
Replaced Sokratis and struggled to adjust to the pace of the game, as he was overawed by United’s attack.SUB – Matteo Guendouzi – 5
Came on in a unfamiliar position and while he done his best to get stuck in, was little he could do to influence the game.SUB – Mezut Ozil – 5
A couple of tidy passes, but nothing that caused the United defence any problems.Manchester United
Sergio Romero – 6
Looked assured every time he was called into action, but there was little he could do about Arsenal’s goal. Superb point blank save moments into the second half to deny Ramsey from equalising and saved well from Lacazette.Ashley Young – 6
Fascinating battle with Iwobi down the right hand side. Showed plenty of pace to hang with the Arsenal attacker and as usual, defended well as United came under brief pressure in the second half.Victor Lindelof – 6.5
Solid and composed, the Swedish defender is really developing into a talented player and he can be pleased with his night’s work.Eric Bailly – 6
Much like his defensive colleague, the Ivorian handled most of what came his way and rarely put a foot wrong.Luke Shaw – 6
Linked well with Sanchez and got forward when he could. Solid defensively and is playing with much more confidence.
5Ander Herrera – 6
Kept play simple and turned in a solid, no frills showing.Nemanja Matic – 6
Not the same player he was at Chelsea, but still does a decent job in the middle and sat back well, allowing Pogba to break free.Paul Pogba -7.5
Linked the play well and made a number of surging runs through the middle, as Arsenal struggled to match the leggy World Cup winner’s frequent bursts and his powerful effort forced the save which led to Martial’s tap-in.
5Jesse Lingard – 7
Lively display from the England international. Added the second with a well-taken finish. Involved in a second-half melee as tempers momentarily flared.Romelu Lukaku – 7
Had a hand in both of United’s first-half goals. The Belgian set up Sanchez’s strike with a brilliant reverse pass after feigning to shoot and then a powerful run down the right ended with good awareness to pick out Lingard to double the lead. Wayward passing let him down there after, but he had already done the damage.Alexis Sanchez – 7
On his return to his former club, his every touch was predictably booed. Struggled to make much impact, but made a telling contribution when he kept his composure to round Cech from a tight angle and score the opener.SUB – Anthony Martial – 6
Struggled to get going, but was in the right place to tap in the third.SUB – Marcus Rashford – 5.5
A fresh pair of legs, the striker ran at an already tiring Arsenal defence to help see out the match.SUB – Phil Jones – N/A
Came on with three minutes remaining.
