Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Divock Origi‘s late winner in their victory over Everton on Sunday is the end of a long and hard chapter of the striker’s career.Origi’s stoppage-time header handed the Reds a 1-0 victory on derby day, taking advantage of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford spilling Virgil van Dijk’s sliced effort back into play.

Bit of redemption for Origi. Remember the horror tackle from Funes Mori. Kissing the badge as hes getting red carded. Origi was taking the mick out of them that day. Was on top form and went out to lengthy injury spell #LIVEVE— RickyP_LFC (@rickpais) December 2, 2018
That goal was for Funes Mori. The man thought he ended Origi's Liverpool career when in fact the man just ended your old club. Karma.— Matt (@FalseFirmino) December 2, 2018
Absolutely delighted for Divock Origi. His development came to a full stop with the Funes Mori tackle 2 years ago. Well deserved revenge for him.— (@Maratrovic_) December 2, 2018
I hope Funes Mori was watching that goal. Origi was never the same after being crocked in the derby. Quite fitting he scored he scored his comeback goal in the same fixture. #LIVEVE #YNWA— David Kidd (@davidpkidd) December 2, 2018
Funes Mori, kissing the badge after getting sent off for seriously injuring Origi, that 1 was for you. #LFC — Dan Roach (@DanielRoachLFC) December 2, 2018And while Klopp did not make a direct reference to Funes Mori, the German said the injury sustained by Origi had a hugely negative impact on his career.Klopp said: “I said to him [Origi] on the side of the pitch. I had it in my mind and have never forgotten since then.“Fouls happen and even harsh tackles happen but in his case it was so obvious that it was a break in his development because at that time he was outstanding.
