Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has completed his loan move to Atletico Madrid. The Spain international struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge following his 60million move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017.
1.@AlvaroMorata has today joined Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season.Good luck, Alvaro! — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) January 28, 2019Morata was on the books of Atletico as a youngster before being snapped up by their bitter rivals Real Madrid, with whom he made his professional debut. He represented Real Madrid across two separate spells – either side of a two-year stay with Juventus – and won two La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with Los Blancos.Chelsea made him their record signing in 2017 with a 60m swoop, but he never looked settled at the club. His exit was effectively sealed last week when manager Sarri questioned where the player’s loyalties lay.Sarri said: “Morata is potentially a very good player. He has the characteristics for playing in my team, but one month ago he said he wanted to play for another team.“It was very difficult for him to give us 100 per cent because of his mental situation. “
