Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were all taken off before the break, with the latter lasting less than 20 minutes having been introduced from the bench himself for the injured Mata.Rashford was visibly limping towards the end of the opening period but was forced to see out the entire game, which ended in a 0-0 draw that sent Liverpool one point clear at the top of the Premier League table.Nemanja Matic is already on the injury list and could be out for several weeks with a blow picked up in training before Sunday’s clash, meaning Solskjaer’s squad has been stretched remarkably thin. Herrera, Mata and Lingard are likely to miss Wednesday’s trip to Crystal Palace, and Solskjaer has admitted he will be surprised if Rashford can feature at Selhurst Park as well.“I have never seen the like of this before,” United’s caretaker manager said. “Three hamstrings in the first half, Rashy was kicked, did his ankle straight away and we should have taken him off as well.“There were quite a few fouls on [Rashford] and normally youd take him off after five minutes. His ankle blew up and he wanted to run it off.“Then Juan and Ander came off, so I hope hes not damaged himself too much.“Ive not seen him after the game. If he plays [on Wednesday] Ill maybe be surprised.”

Scott McTominay started in Matic’s absence and Andreas Pereira was chosen ahead of Fred to replace Herrera just after the 20-minute mark. The pair have enjoyed little game time under Solskjaer, but he admitted his delight with their performances against a lacklustre Liverpool outfit. He added: “I learned a lot about the players: Scott McTominay was a ‘Darren Fletcher’ for us, absolutely fantastic.McTominay impressed in what was his first league start under Solskjaer2

“Andreas [Pereira] has had criticism lately but he’s had to come on and I thought he did fantastic so I learned a lot about the character of the team.“I was very impressed by my team: the attitude, the character we showed in adversity because everything that could’ve gone wrong in the first half went wrong.”
